Weeks of Welcome

Weeks of Welcome (WOW) is the official start of a new semester. It's a transitional time when new students get to know the campus and prepare for their academic endeavors.

The Department of Student Life organizes an exciting slate of events during this time, which includes many different way to get involved with student organizations, celebrate school spirit by cheering on our athletic teams, and connect to the campus community.

Saturday, January 20
  • 1–3 p.m. | Fireside Lounge | Valley Views & Vision Boards: Come create a vision board for the new year or the upcoming semester while enjoying some cookies and gorgeous views of the valley! 
Monday, January 22
  • 2–5 p.m. | MacVittie College Union Lobby | Be True to the Blue: What's your favorite color? (Obviously blue). Celebrate your Geneseo pride with blue snacks, acticities, and swag! 
Tuesday, January 23
  • 1–3 p.m. I MacVittie College Union Lobby I Treat Yourself Tuesday: Tuesday's are for treats and trivia! Stop by Student Life's table in the Union to answer a trivia question to win a snack for the road.
Wednesday, January 24
  • 2–4 p.m. | MacVittie College Union Lobby | Wear It Wednesday (with Waffles!): Wear It Wednesday! Show off your Geneseo pride in your best Geneseo attire! Find us in the Student Union Lobby, show us your G fit, and grab a waffle. The person most decked out in Geneseo swag will win a prize!
Thursday, January 25
  • 3–5 p.m I MacVittie College Union Ballroom I Student Organization Expo: Explore and join new clubs this semester! Geneseo offers over 130 active organizations. Can't find one that fits your niche? Start your own!
     
  • 9-10 p.m. | Brodie 210 | Pep Band Rehearsal: Come to Pep Band's first rehearsal of the semester! The band will discuss their goals for the semester and rehearse for their first game on Friday, 1/26. Bring your instrument if you have one, and if not they will work on getting an instrument for you to borrow.
Friday, January 26
  • 5–7 p.m. I Merritt Circle I FANtastic Friday Knight Tailgate: Kick off the first Ice Knights Home game of 2024! Lloyd's tacos, hot cocoa, and giveaways brought to you by Student Life and GLK!
Wednesday, January 31
  • 7-8 p.m. | South 338 | Young Children's Council Club Meeting: It's the Young Children's Council's first club meeting and they invite all new and returning members to attend! Hear about upcoming semester plans and hear from some guest speakers. All are welcome.
Saturday, February 3
  • 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Newton 206 | All Acapella Auditions: Interesting in joining one of Geneseo's Acapella groups? Come audition! Auditionees will be asked to come prepared with a verse and chorus of a song of their choice to be sung acapella, and they will complete a quick range test. Sight reading, and technical musical experience is not required. 10-minute audition slots will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Auditions are open to all students.
Monday, February 5
  • 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. | MCU Ballroom | School of Education Student & Faculty Mixer: Get to know the students and faculty of the school of education and kick off the semester with visiting organizations, catered food, giveaways & more! RSVp at https://forms.gle/DgNxTjjeTnmfyZvEA.
